Colorado Springs, Colorado
Starting off our list is Colorado's second most populated city, sitting about 1 hour south of Denver. We started off with Colorado Springs as its currently where we reside, and chose to live here for its great access to the outdoors. Although you are further form skiing activities, there is plenty else to enjoy.
Colorado Springs offers great hiking and biking trails, many found in a short drive from wherever you may be staying. Palmer Park is a regular visit for myself and Grizz for hiking and its off-leash dog trail. Paddle boarding, lakes, Pikes Peak, climbing, horse back riding, and other outdoor activities can all be found here. Home to the top rated zoo, multiple museums, food tours, and other great activities provides something for everyone.
Glenwood Springs, Colorado
A favorite visit of mine as I make my way from Co. Springs to my hometown in UT. Glenwood Springs offers the largest hot spring in the world if you're looking for a nice soak. But be sure to get your outdoor activities in first. Enjoy rafting the Colorado River, Hanging Lake, horseback riding, multitude of hiking/biking trails, paddle boarding, fishing, ATV riding, and more.
Take a look at Glenwood Adventure Company as they offer many of these great activities and resources to do so. Looking for a mix of amusement + outdoors? You'll want to take the Iron Mountain Tramway up to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park to enjoy amusement rides and cave tours. All situated up on a mountain.
Telluride, Colorado
Voted as one of the top ski resorts in America, among its many winter sports, its a must if you're looking for a winter trip. Telluride offers year round enjoyment with its multitude of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, camping, rock climbing, and rafting. Enjoy a kayak trip to Alta Lakes, or relax on your paddle board.
Take your trip off road with Telluride Off Road adventures, and settle in to town to enjoy some of its character. In town you'll find great shops, amazing eateries, breweries, art's, and fun for all. It's a must visit on your list.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Named after its enticing hot springs, its city that offers all of the great outdoor activities. Winter months you can enjoy its great ski resorts, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and finish it off with a hot spring soak. Be sure to visit the Steamboat Ski Resort, and Steamboat Gondola.
Steamboat does not let down with its beautiful hiking and biking trails, camping destinations, fishing spots, and more. In town you can enjoy plentiful of restaurants, museums, art galleries, and a tennis center. Take a dog sled adventure at Grizzle - T Dog Sled and Works (we may have something in common.)
Aspen, Colorado
You'll notice many of these cities are well known for their winter sports, what else would you expect in the rocky mountains? Aspen is no different, and provides some amazing skiing, so go shred some powder. The year round fun is always booming with its great outdoor activities from hiking, rafting, fly fishing, and more.
Enjoy a ride with views at the Aspen Mountain Gondola, or see views from a hot air balloon ride. Take a break to enjoy some great food and wine, a ballet or theatre for the cultured, or embrace a relaxing spa day.
Breckenridge, Colorado
Offering world class skiing, Breckenridge is a well known mining town that keeps busy with its amazing outdoor activities. Enjoy hiking trails such as the McCullough Gulth Trail, featuring a lake to relax at or bring a picnic. Take your chance at some dog sledding and snowmobiling with Good Times Adventures.
Among its multitude of year round outdoors fun, you can catch a gondola up to The Peak 8 Fun Park and enjoy some amusement fun. In town there are plentiful of historical sights and landmarks, museums, eateries, breweries and more.
